Super 8 and Digital: Two Textures, One Wedding Story
Super 8 can be a film of its own and part of the wider story. When you book our Super 8 add-on, you receive a separate reel, and the footage can also be woven into your highlight, short film or documentary feature alongside digitally captured footage.
That gives you two ways to return to the day: the distinctive rhythm of the Super 8 reel, and the texture it brings to your main wedding film.
What Super 8 adds
Super 8 is captured on real analogue film. Its grain, movement and character give a scene a different feeling from the digital footage beside it. It can lend a sense of intimacy to a walk together, family gathering or small exchange between events.
The appeal is personal. Watch examples and pay attention to what you respond to—the texture, the pace, the colours or the feeling of a particular moment. That is a better basis for choosing the add-on than treating it as something every wedding needs.
The reel stands on its own
Your separate Super 8 reel lets you experience those images together in their own edit. It doesn’t depend on the main wedding film to make sense, so you can choose to watch or share it on its own.
Our Super 8 page includes examples and more about the service. Use those films to get a feel for the look before deciding how much analogue coverage you want.
It can also be part of your digital wedding film
In a combined edit, we choose where Super 8 belongs within the story. A shift in texture can give a sequence another layer while digital footage carries the wider coverage and recorded words.
Olivia and Ebinee’s wedding highlight film is an example of Super 8 woven alongside digital footage. Their day moved from a ceremony and brunch with immediate family to an evening celebration at the Art Gallery of Ontario. The film connects those parts as one wedding story.
The same approach can work within a highlight, short film or documentary feature. The edit is shaped around your footage and the film you choose; we don’t place the analogue moments into a fixed template.
Tell us which moments you imagine on film
At the planning stage, tell us what draws you to Super 8 and which parts of the day you have in mind. Perhaps it’s the morning with family, portraits together or the atmosphere around your ceremony.
We’ll discuss how that fits your schedule and coverage. Super 8 complements the main filming plan; it shouldn’t mean trying to recreate genuine moments or making your wedding revolve around a camera.
Choose the coverage, then compare the complete collection
Start with the main film you want and the wedding coverage you need. Then consider how Super 8 fits alongside it. Our collections and pricing page lets you compare the available add-ons and build an estimate.
If you’re unsure which option suits your plans, share your itinerary and tell us what you most want to remember. We can help you choose without adding coverage simply for the sake of it.
What to ask before adding Super 8
Do we love the look of the real Super 8 examples?
Which parts of our day would we most like captured this way?
How does the add-on fit our main wedding coverage?
Would we like Super 8 woven into our main edit as well as a separate reel?
The result should still feel uniquely yours: your people, your story and the atmosphere of your wedding, told through a combination of images that you love.
